Welcome to HSB Solar Park Strängnäs
In May 2023, phase two of HSB Solar Park was connected to the grid, making it the largest solar park in Sweden with just over 21 MW. In total, the park will have an annual production equivalent to the electricity consumption of approximately 7,500 apartments (21,000,000 kilowatt hours).
On September 4, 2020, the first phase of the solar park was inaugurated, which was the largest in Sweden at that time. During 20 intensive weeks, the field was transformed into a production facility that, during the summer months, powers the entire town of Strängnäs with solar energy during the daytime. The park was built on behalf of HSB Södermanland, which in turn offers HSB housing associations the opportunity to purchase shares in the park.

From HSB Södermanlands Solar Park
A dream for pollinating insects
In connection with the construction of the solar park, HSB Södermanland started a project together with SLU – the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala. The aim of the project is to follow up on how different measures can benefit pollinating insects in and around the park. Our hope is that a flowering solar park can promote species diversity in the agricultural landscape, thereby directly benefiting nearby farms.
Unique seed mixture for solar parks
As a first step, a perennial bee plant mixture was sown in part of the park. The company Olssons Fröer developed a special solar park seed mixture for us, where the flowers provide abundant nectar and pollen for bumblebees and wild bees, while the plants are prevented from growing too tall and shading the panels.
